Age Friendly Vale is supporting Age Without Limits Action Day 2024

The Age Without Limits campaign aims to spark a debate and conversation about what ageism is and to change the way we all think about ageing. The Action Day is a chance for individuals, communities, and workplaces to learn, take action and help change the way we think about ageing. The Action Day is your chance to make a difference.

What is the Action Day About?

Unlike any other protected characteristic, age is universal. Regardless of race, gender, ability, sexual orientation - we are all ageing. Ageism affects everyone. Everyone, everywhere has a stake in changing this.

This Year's Theme is 'See and Be Seen'

How we are represented as we grow older can have a profound impact on other people’s beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours towards us – this is particularly important if some or all of those representations are negative or stereotypical.

This is all about challenging the often narrow, negative and stereotypical way that older people and ageing is portrayed in our society.

  • As part of our Ageing Well Campaign, we're putting together a video to showcase the ways in which Vale residents challenge stereotypes when it comes to growing older. We want to know more about what you (or someone you know may) do to "age well". Whether it's learning a new skill, going to the gym, or meeting your friends for coffee - there are lot's of ways that you challenge stereotypes every single day!

We're looking for residents to feature in our video. Submit a video of either yourself or an older person you know demonstrating how you challenge age stereotypes. The best videos will also be in with a chance of winning Age Friendly Vale prize pack, so don't feel afraid to get creative.

Here's some prompts to help you get started with your video:

    1. What advice would you give other people to help them age well?
    2. What’s the best thing about growing older?
    3. As you get older what matters most to you?
