Your guide to petitions in the Vale
Starting or signing a petition is one way for individuals, community groups and organisations to get involved in Council decision-making.
Petitions help raise issues that matter to local people and give the Council the chance to consider change.
To make the petition process easier, the Council offers an online e-petition service.
Paper petitions are also accepted. If you choose this option, please follow the instructions at the bottom of the page.
Petitions should be relevant to matters the Council has responsibility for, and they should be respectful and submitted in good faith.

About the E-Petition process
Anyone who lives, works, or studies in the Vale can create or sign an e-petition, including under 18s.
When an e-petition is submitted, the Council's Monitoring Officer or Deputy Monitoring Officer checks that it meets the criteria. If it does, the Council will publish it online in both Welsh and English. People can then show their support by adding their signature.
Once an e-petition has closed, it is considered by the Council, Cabinet, or a Scrutiny Committee depending on the topic. The lead petitioner may be invited to present the petition, and the Council provides a formal response, which is also published online.

The Council only considers e-petitions created through this platform.
You can view all closed e-petitions, as well as those that were not accepted because they didn’t meet the criteria:
