The Creative Communities team are leading the Placemaking activity on behalf of the Vale of Glamorgan Council. Meetings between the Creative Communities team and Penarth Town Council began last year and we’ve been meeting on a regular basis to develop our joint approach to Placemaking in Penarth.
We’ve met with a number of community groups in the town, and met with the Business Forum. We’ve also been out and about meeting with residents of the different neighbourhoods within Penarth, We’ve agreed which community events we need to attend and have agreed a strategy to make sure that as many residents of Penarth as possible have the chance to share their views about what it’s like to live in Penarth and their ideas about what changes could be made to make Penarth a sustainable town for the future.
So far we’ve attended the Christmas Lights Switch On Event and the Penarth Summer Festival . We’ve reached out to Sports and Community Groups, made contact with the local schools and we’ll be working with colleagues in our Youth Service to talk to young people attending summer holiday activities in the town.
Latest News
Most recently we’ve been talking to residents accessing the Food Pod on St Luke’s Avenue. We’ve learnt a lot from them about the challenges of reaching local supermarkets by Public Transport. We’re also looking forward to attending the Sports Fest event on Cwrt Y Vil playing fields on 30 July.

We will be holding a residents' drop-in session in the Paget Rooms at the beginning of September. More details to follow.
