In October 2023 the Council asked residents in Sully how it should spend section 106 funding to improve community facilities and open spaces in the area.
Section 106 is a legal agreement between a developer and the local council. It says the developer must give something back to the community; either by:
Paying money to the council to be spent on improving the local area, or
Building things directly, like affordable housing, new schools, parks, or road improvements.
After reviewing the initial feedback from the community and identifying priorities for improved community facilities, we are proposing to improve the play area and adjoining public open space near Conybeare Road, which comprises of 5 distinct areas, as shown on the plan below.
Proposed improvements include:
Upgrade the play area near Conybeare Road
Install natural "play on the way" elements, fitness trails, and nature trails throughout the open space
Install seating and resting areas throughout the open space
Introduce signage, wayfinding, and interpretive information
Enhance biodiversity through wildflower meadows, adjusted mowing regimes, bulb planting, and native tree and hedgerow planting throughout the open space
