Tree and Woodland Grant Opportunities


There are lots of Tree and Woodland Grants available in Wales. You could get funding to plant a tree in your garden or create a whole woodland on your land. The grants are available for individuals, community groups, schools, farmers, and more.

Grant to plant a single tree or a few trees on your land.
You must be a landowner or farmer in mainland UK.
Applications for November 2023 delivery are currently open.
Woodland Trust Grant for Schools and Community GroupsGrant to plant a single tree or a few trees on your land.
You must be a member of a school or community group in mainland UK. You must get permission from the landowner.
Applications for November 2023 delivery are currently open.
Welsh Government Woodland Creation Planning Scheme
Financial support to use a registered woodland planner to develop a woodland creation plan for an area of at least 0.25 hectares.
Available for farmers, other landowners and land managers in Wales applying for funding to use a registered woodland planner. The land must be in a low-sensitivity area.
Applications are currently open.
Welsh Government Woodland Creation Grant This grant provides financial support for creating larger areas of woodland or small areas not suitable for the Small Grants - Woodland Creation Scheme.

You will need to apply for the Woodland Creation Planning scheme and have a plan in place before you can apply for this scheme.
Farmers, land managers and other landowners can apply for the scheme. Applicants must have a verified Woodland Creation Plan before applying.

The minimum area of land for an application is 0.25ha. There is no maximum area.
Applications are currently open and close on 15 September 2023.
The Tree Council: Branching OutBranching Out provides grants ranging from £250 to £2,500 in value to establish trees, hedgerows, and orchards in the 2023/24 planting season.
Applications are open to community groups, schools, small registered charities, and Tree Warden Networks.
Applications are currently open and close on 3 December 2023.
