In July 2019, we joined Welsh Government and other Local Authorities across the UK in declaring a Climate Emergency in response to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report into the impact of global warming. Following this, we declared a nature emergency in July 2021.
Project Zero is the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s response to the Climate and nature Emergencies.
It brings together the wide range of work and opportunities available to tackle climate change, reduce the Council’s carbon emissions to net zero by 2030, care for nature, and encourage others to make positive changes.
We have already made changes across the organisation and started projects to reduce our carbon emissions and support nature. Check our what we have been doing recently under the 'what are we doing' section of the Project Zero Hub.
We must all work together to adapt to and reduce the effects of climate change, and to support nature. Together we have an opportunity to change and to make a difference and we have brought all of this work together as Project Zero.
Our Plan
Through Project Zero we have identified eighteen critical challenges and 80 underlying actions that will drive positive change.
