About placemaking

We're embarking on a Placemaking programme that gives the local community a voice in the future of Penarth, Barry, Cowbridge and Llantwit Major.
How we plan, design, build and take care of places can make a big difference in how people live, work, hang out, get around and connect with each other in a positive way.
Placemaking is about making public spaces better for everyone by turning them into lively, welcoming places that improve the quality of life for the community.
We want to work together to transform spaces in [town] into exciting and engaging places that we can all be proud of.
Placing people at the heart of the process, we want to build a picture of what matters most to the local community.
Together, we can start making a difference, creating spaces that show off the local character of the town, encouraging people to connect, and adding to a feeling of belonging and happiness.
When people who live here, business owners, and others in the community actively join in these discussions, they play a key role in planning and bringing to life these spaces. This ensures that the changes made reflect the unique identity of the town and the goals of the community.
Getting involved not only makes a place look better, but also brings people closer, encourages collaboration, and helps individuals feel proud of where they work, live and socialise. This leads to communities that are stronger, more inclusive and thriving.
Have you say in shaping your town's future
